LIOW ACCEPTS DAP MEMBER’S APOLOGY
He hopes that opposition will stop making baseless allegations
MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai has accepted the apology of DAP member Wong Tack over an accusation the latter had made against him, saying he hoped that the opposition would stop making baseless allegations.
He said he was glad that Wong had apologised over a fake identification card claim that the latter had made on Facebook.
“I am glad and thankful that Wong has apologised. I hope there will no longer be any baseless allegations against me,” he said on his Facebook account.
The post was uploaded after Wong apologised for what Liow had claimed was a misunderstanding over his MyKad.
Wong had, the day before, uploaded a video clip on his Facebook account, which he claimed to have been recorded by a supporter outside the Bentong nomination centre.
In the video clip, chants of “Liow Tiong Lai”, “show your IC” and “liar” could be heard.
The video caused confusion among social media users, who thought that Liow had shown up at the nomination centre without his MyKad.
Following the uploading of the clip, Liow’s press secretary, Lim Chau Leng, lodged a report.
Liow is defending his Bentong parliamentary seat against two challengers — Wong, who is contesting under the PKR ticket, and Pas candidate N. Balasubramaniam, who is a Pas Supporter’s Club member.
