KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 1,147 students of HELP University, including 210 postgraduates, received their scrolls at the institution’s 30th convocation yesterday.
Chancellor Datuk Paul Leong Khee Seong said 81 graduates, or 8.6 per cent, received first class honours this year, compared with 5.3 per cent in 2016 and 5.6 per cent in 2015.
He said 63 per cent were women, while 22 per cent were international students.
“I am pleased to say that the HELP A-Levels programme has continued to help its students gain admission into top universities in 2017.
“(This includes the) University of Cambridge, Imperial College London, London School of Economics, King’s College London, Queen Mary University of London and University College London.”
Leong said more than 20,000 students had graduated from the university since it was established in 1986.
“It is incredible how a capital investment of RM25,000 and a tutorial class of only 30 students at Kampung Attap could blossom into a leading and multidisciplinary university with more than 9,000 students from Asia, the Middle East and Africa.”
