BN Permatang Berangan candidate shares secret to staying energised
TASEK GELUGOR: Drink enough water and take supplements.
This is Nor Hafizah Othman’s secret to remaining energetic during her campaign rounds for the 14th General Election (GE14).
The Barisan Nasional Permatang Berangan state seat candidate takes good care of her health and tries to find time in between work for quick rests to maintain her stamina.
The 42-year-old said the state seat, which has more BN branches compared with the Teluk Air Tawar and Sungai Dua state seats, was a challenge as she needed to reach out to voters within the short time frame before polling day.
“In Permatang Berangan, we have 40 branches compared with Teluk Air Tawar and Sungai Dua, which have 25 and 20 branches respectively.
“As a new face, this is a challenge.
“But, it is not stopping me from reaching out to voters,” she said at the closing ceremony of Klinik Club Prix organised by the Youth and Sports Ministry in Kubang Menerong here yesterday.
A local and familiar face, Nor Hafizah said consuming enough fluids and taking supplements was important.
“In the past, I helped the candidates.
“Now, I am a candidate myself. Of course, this is different story altogether and there is no time for rest.
“My schedule begins at 8am and ends past midnight, and the cycle goes on until the end of the campaigning period.”
However, she said this was nothing compared with the challenge of being an elected representative if she was given the mandate by the people.
“I will try my level best to defend the seat, which has been BN’s for more than 30 years.
“I will become the first woman to break tradition to represent this area if I win.”
The Permatang Berangan state seat will see a four-cornered fight between Nor Hafizah, a lawyer, against her former boss in Umno Datuk Seri Mohd Shariff Omar, who is contesting under the PKR banner this time around, Mohd Sobri Salleh (Pas) and Azman Shah Othman (Parti Rakyat Malaysia).
