EX-IGP: I AM READY TO BE INVESTIGATED
He’s unaware of any travel restriction
FORMER inspector-general of police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar is ready to be investigated over any issues that arose before the 14th General Election.
He said he was aware that his name and that of former attorney-general Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali had been earmarked as among those who could be investigated by the Federal Government over the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) issue, among others.
“I am still on duty and I am ready to fully cooperate with regard to any issue, including any investigation process involving me,” he said.
However, he declined to comment on any action that might take place.
He said he was unaware if any travel restrictions had been placed on him.
On Saturday, Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad had said Apandi and Khalid could come under investigation for the roles they played in the 1MDB probe.
Khalid was one of four senior government officers instructed to conduct a probe into 1MDB’s investments and finances.
The others were former Bank Negara Malaysia governor Tan Sri Zeti Akhtar Aziz, former Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission chief commissioner Tan Sri Abu Kassim Mohamed and former attorney-general Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail.
Khalid, 61, retired from the police force in September, last year.
He is now Prasarana Malaysia Bhd chairman.
