EDARAN Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd, the sole distributo­r and assembler of Nissan vehicles in Malaysia, has targeted to sell 500 units of the all-new Nissan Serena a month.

“Currently, we have secured bookings for 1,300 units,” said its sales and marketing director Christophe­r Tan after the vehicle’s launch.

The all-new 2.0L Nissan Serena S-Hybrid comes with a starting price of RM135,500, inclusive of Goods and Services Tax (GST) but excluding insurance.

Two variants are available - Highway Star and Premium Highway Star.

Both variants are powered by the 2.0-litre Twin continuous­ly variableva­lve timing control dual arm tensioner engine paired with the Xtronic continuous­ly variable transmissi­on with adaptive shift control.

It generates a maximum power output of 148hp at 6,000rpm and 200Nm of torque from 4,400rpm.

Nissan claims that it has a fuel economy rating of 14.2km per litre, which is a 13 per cent improvemen­t in fuel economy over its predecesso­rs.

The all-new Nissan Serena is equipped with dual LED projector headlamps, floating roof design, LED tail lamps, hands-free dual power sliding door, dual back door, soft padded instrument­al panel, seven-inch full colour advance drive assist display, flat bottom leather steering wheel with cruise control, 6.75-inch Clarion advanced touchscree­n display audio, keyless entry with push-to-start button, dual zone auto climate control system, zero gravity inspired seats, captain seats with dual armrest for the second row occupants and seven USB charging ports.

It also features the Nissan Intelligen­t Mobility suites of technologi­es. It includes S-Hybrid system, Intelligen­t Around View Monitor, Intelligen­t Moving Object Detection, Intelligen­t Driver Alertness and smartphone connectivi­ty.

The Premium Highway Star variant offers more sophistica­tion. It has combinatio­n leather seats with a colour choice of two-tone truffle brown and chestnut or single-tone black, 10.1inch roof-mounted LCD panel, tech-on tray mat for the personal table, driving video recorder, LED room lamp, V-Kool 4Mil security film tinting, door visors and 16-inch diamond cut alloy wheels, instead of the 15-inch alloy wheels available on the base variant.

Safety aspects of the both variants include six airbags, anti-lock braking system, vehicle dynamic control, traction control, brake assist, electronic brake force distributi­on, hill-start assist and Isofix child seat mounting points.

The Highway Star variant comes with a new colour, Cashmere Gold, alongside three colours available on its predecesso­r - Diamond Black, Brilliant White and Tungsten Silver.

The Premium Highway Star variant offers a two-tone exterior colour design of Brilliant White body colour with Diamond Black roof, Tungsten Silver body colour with Diamond Black roof, and Cashmere Gold body colour with Imperial Umber roof.

The Highway Star retails at RM135,500 while the Premium Highway Star is priced at RM147,500, inclusive of GST but excluding insurance.

The vehicle is covered by a five-year unlimited mileage warranty and threeyear or 60,000km, which ever comes, first maintenanc­e service promotion.
