Subahan remains as FAS president till July 3

- Mansor Zulfaizan

Seri Subahan Kamal will remain as FA of Selangor (FAS) president until an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) on July 3.

Subahan explained that the EGM will be held out to choose FAS’ new president after he decided to step down from helming the state football association because of the burden of duties to carry out.

Subahan, who is also FA of Malaysia (FAM) deputy president confirmed that the FAS Exco want Raja Muda of Selangor (RMS), Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah as his replacement.

“As I stated earlier that in order for the transition of power (change in president) to take place in a peaceful and orderly manner, it will take place during the EGM which will be held on July 3.

“The time has come for me to let go of my post to Tengku Amir Shah, because I feel and think that he is the most qualified for the job. I myself have too many commitments which also include hockey.

“I have also informed FAS secretary-general, Rosman Ibrahim to carry out the necessary official steps required to call for an EGM where we will only decide to choose a new president,” he said after chairing an FAS Exco meeting earlier yesterday.

NSTP Sport had reported that Subahan will step down as FAS president because of the commitments that he shoulders which include being the Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC) president.

Subahan was chosen as FAS president in February last year to lead the association for the 2017-2021 term.

Apart from this, Subahan is also hoping that Tengku Amir Syah can fulfil all the exco’s wishes by being elected as FAS new president come July 3.

“I think God willing Tengku Amir Syah will accept. But we are all hoping that he will accept.

“We know that he is more than capable of leading FAS and the Selangor team to greater heights and achievements apart from further developing football in Selangor.

“I can’t comment on what Tengku Amir Syah will need to do at the beginning because each president has his own way of doing things. But we believe in his abilities,” said Subahan.
