BUKIT Bintang member of parliament Fong Kui Lun yesterday lodged a report over claims that he consented to Bukit Bintang Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) Youth chief Mohd Noorhisyam Abd Karim collecting money for a Ramadan bazaar here.

Fong lodged the report at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters, and said he had no knowledge or information regarding the claims.

“A reporter informed me of the claims. I did not agree to collecting money for the Ramadan bazaar lots involved.

“I lodged a report so police can investigate whether any money was collected, either directly or indirectly.

“We want to know if there were any element of bribery connected with the approval of additional Ramadan bazaar lots by Kuala Lumpur City Hall.

“For that reason, I will lodge a report on the same case at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) office in Putrajaya tomorrow (today).”

Fong said any matter involving Ramadan bazaar lots should be dealt directly with the traders, not through a middleman, such as a representative from non-governmental organisations.

“We want to give a fair chance to traders. This matter has been proposed to City Hall.

“We hope that no more issues involving such lots will crop up,” he said.

On Monday, PPBM lodged a report with MACC regarding the abuse of power and misappropriation of a City Hall Ramadan bazaar site here.

PPBM Youth chief Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman said he had asked MACC to investigate the case and bring the culprit to justice.
