Dialog in talks to acquire Synaptics

LONDON: Dialog Semiconductor Plc, seeking to cut its heavy dependence on Apple Inc, said it’s proceeding with an attempted takeover of Synaptics Inc. Dialog is conducting due diligence and detailed discussions related to the potential deal, it said late on Tuesday. That confirmed an earlier report by Bloomberg that the two were exploring a transaction. Any deal would be paid for primarily in cash from the company’s balance sheet and debt, said Dialog. Synaptics shares were halted in extended trading on Tuesday.
