DR M: LODGE A REPORT IF YOU HAVE PROOF I AM UNTRUSTWORTHY
Any PH leader involved in wrongdoing will be removed from post, including me, says Dr M
“IF I am not trustworthy and (with) enough evidence, lodge a report so that I can be dropped from the prime minister’s post,” said Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
He said all government leaders had pledged not to do anything against the rule of law and religion.
“This was our (Pakatan Harapan) promise. If there is evidence that we did not fulfil our promises, myself included, lodge a report.
“Please report if I am found cheating and untrustworthy, with evidence, so that I can be dropped from the prime minister’s post.
“Same goes to other PH representatives. Should they be found involved in corruption, receiving money or getting contracts, they will also be removed from their posts,” he said at the 29th annual general meeting of Koperasi Pembangunan Daerah Langkawi here yesterday.
Dr Mahathir, who is also Langkawi member of parliament, said the PH-led government would uphold its promise and pledge to not deceive and steal.
“When we uphold our promises, people will continue to support us (as) the government.
“If we did something like the previous government, definitely people would bring us down, like what had happened in the last general election.”
Dr Mahathir said the previous government had unashamedly stolen public funds and, claiming that the money was halal, used it to sponsor people for the haj pilgrimage.
“How can this money be regarded as halal and used for haj pilgrimage when it was stolen in the first place?” he asked.
Dr Mahathir said the concept of trust was important in the management of cooperatives because it determined the success or failure of an organisation.
He said those entrusted with the responsibility to manage a cooperative should discharge their duties with sincerity and trust.
“Any work given should be done with trust. Do not take what belongs to others. Cooperatives can sustain and progress because they always make profit.”
Koperasi Pembangunan Daerah Langkawi chairman Juhari Bulat said the cooperative had generated profits that had enabled the members to enjoy a 10 per cent dividend annually over the past 30 years.
Juhari, who is the state assemblyman for Ayer Hangat, said the cooperative planned to venture into resort entrepreneurship after having successfully run a petrol kiosk, premix plant, hotel and motorcycle shop.
