‘Mat Sabu was referring to PLKN, not NSC Act’

-

KUALA LUMPUR: The Defence Ministry yesterday clarified that it was the National Service Training Programme (PLKN) programme and not the National Security Council (NSC) Act, that will be reviewed by the government.

“The defence minister was referring to PLKN and not the NSC Act.”

Mohamad Sabu on Thursday reportedly said that the government would review the act to ensure that it would not become a political tool.

Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad yesterday said that the NSC Act 2016 was one of the laws being reviewed for possible amendment or repeal.

He said this was because some laws used by the previous government restricted people’s freedom.
