‘I posted on FB to cover son, wife’s medical costs’

TEMERLOH: “I just want to sell off my motorcycle to help cover my family’s daily expenses, including the cost of travelling to Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital (Hoshas) where my son is being treated.”

Mohd Khairul Najmi Rodwan, 22, said this, denying claims that he was scamming the public.

He said his newborn son, Azim Mikail, was receiving treatment at Hoshas for internal bleeding in the brain and lungs after being born prematurely at seven months.

Khairul said his wife, Nurul Edayu Zulkafli, 25, who delivered Azim at Lipis Hospital on June 20 was suffering from stomach pains after the birth of their second child and he had to take leave to care for his wife.

Khairul, who works at the maintenance department of a palm oil factory, said he was fired last week as he had taken many days off, adding that he was now worried about how to make ends meet.

“We decided I should sell my Yamaha LC135 motorcycle.

“At least I can use the money to cover our expenses, which include travelling to and from the hospital, which is some 90km away from our house in Damak, Jerantut,” he told the New Straits Times Press at Hoshas here yesterday.

Khairul added that he posted about selling his motorcycle on Facebook and the post went viral.

“I was told that many people who wanted to transfer their contribution into my bank account could not do so.

“I will go to the bank tomorrow to solve this matter.”
