TDA-THALES PACT BOOST FOR KEDAH

-

KULIM: The Pre-Industrial Collaboration Programme (Pre-ICP) agreement between the Technology Depository Agency (TDA) and Thales International Offsets will position Malaysia, especially Kedah, as a sub-contracting destination for Thales’ in-flight entertainment (IFE) screens for global supply.

Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng said the Pre-ICP agreement was one of the major parameters for award consideration where Malaysia, through Kedah, was elected as the sub-contracting destination, ahead of India and Thailand.

“The value of the sub-contract is estimated to be RM447 million, but the sub-contracting programme itself would see more than RM1.2 billion worth of products made in Malaysia by 2022,” he said at the Pre-ICP agreement signing ceremony between TDA and Thales at Celestica Malaysia Sdn Bhd in the Kulim Hi Tech Park, here, yesterday.

At the signing ceremony, TDA was represented by its chief executive officer Datuk Zailani Safari while Thales was represented by its vice-president for Southeast Asia, Frederique Miller.
