JOHOR BARU: Police have completed investigations into nine cases of falsifying the Sijil Layak Memiliki Rumah (SLMR) to buy Rumah Mampu Milik Johor (RMMJ) units in Taman Perniagaan Setia II here.

State Housing and Rural Development Committee chairman Dzulkefly Ahmad said the suspect involved in the case had been identified and was expected to be arrested.

He said police had completed the report and investigation paper into the matter, which would be submitted to the AttorneyGeneral’s Chambers.

“The suspect will be charged under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating, which carries up to 10 years’ jail, a fine and caning if convicted.”

He said this after the launch of the third series of the MyRumah 2018 property exhibition organised by the New Straits Times Press at Komtar JBCC here.

He said the state government, through the Housing Division of the State Secretariat, had never appointed agents or individuals to secure RMMJ units.

Last month, the state government announced that it had uncovered nine cases of falsifying SLMR to buy RMMJ units in Taman Perniagaan Setia II here.

A police report was lodged by an employee from the Housing Division on June 28. The RMMJ units involved cost RM150,000 each.
