DR AFIF, HILMAN TO CONTEST YOUTH POSTS
Dr Afif to contest Youth chief post, while Hilman will contest deputy Youth chief post
DR Afif Bahardin and Muhammad Hilman Idham have offered to contest the posts of PKR Youth chief and deputy chief, respectively, in the upcoming party election.
The announcement was made in a joint statement issued by Dr Afif and Hilman yesterday.
Dr Afif is the incumbent PKR deputy Youth chief, Seberang Jaya assemblyman and a state executive council member.
Hilman is the political secretary of Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, the incumbent PKR deputy president.
The two said they discussed the matter with PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, top party leaders, party members and the Permatang Pauh and Gombak grassroots before making their decisions.
“We are aware that young people are the future of PKR. And in the name of PKR’s struggle, we, Dr Afif and Hilman, offer ourselves to contest the party’s Youth chief and deputy chief posts in the party election.
“We hope that with the continuous support of young people, we will be able to move forward to build a stronger and progressive Youth movement.”
They said youth played a vital role in the 14th General Election and changed the political landscape to allow the realisation of the reform agenda.
“Their fresh and dynamic ideas, coupled with progressive work patterns, have contributed to a new Malaysia.
“We are grateful for the support of the young people in joining us in our struggle, and in the process, create history.”
Nominations for the party’s top posts are slated for tomorrow.
