Prove PKR involved in money politics, Lokman told

-

SHAH ALAM: Barisan Nasional candidate for the Sungai Kandis by-election Datuk Lokman Noor Adam has been urged to show proof of his allegations that PKR is practising money politics in its campaign.

PKR candidate Mohd Zawawi Ahmad Mughni said he had always adhered to the principle of combating corruption and money politics.

“I am not like him (Lokman). I’m just a small person with not much wealth.

“If that is what he accuses me of, then he must make sure it is not an empty story to lure voters.

“If it is indeed true, he should prove it,” Zawawi said here yesterday.

On Thursday, The New Straits Times Press reported that the Election Commission and Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) were urged to investigate allegations of money politics in the Sungai Kandis byelection.

Lokman was quoted as saying that if it were true, it was against PKR’s struggle to eliminate corruption.

Lokman was allegedly told that PKR had engaged individuals or agents to approach voters in Sungai Kandis, and that the BN and Umno machinery had been mobilised to monitor the matter.

Meanwhile, Zawawi said he welcomed BN to lodge a report to MACC to conduct an investigation into the matter.

“Lodge a report on the matter. There is nothing for me to hide.”
