New mum brings son to polling station

-

Just three months ago, Nurul Fiqaini Buang was in confinement and placed in a wheelchair by Election Commission staff when she arrived to cast her vote in the 14th General Election.

Yesterday, the 24-year-old mother returned to SK Jalan Kebun once again to pick her choice of candidate in the Sungai Kandis by-election, this time with her baby in tow.

Nurul, who has lived in Jalan-- Kebun all her life, said it was not a bother bringing along her firstborn, Mohd Akmal Hadif Mohd Shafiq Hafizi, to the polling station.

“It is my duty as a citizen to cast my vote. I have lived in Jalan Kebun since I was born. This is my ‘kampung’ and this is one of my responsibilities.

“I am glad to be able to bring my son along. And thank God, he did not cry during the voting process,” said Nurul.
