‘PKR welcomes Umno-Pas cooperation’
GEORGE TOWN: PKR welcomes Umno and Pas’ openness in announcing their political cooperation for the Sungai Kandis and Seri Setia by-elections.
PKR secretary-general Datuk Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the cooperation would result in a powerful opposition for the Pakatan Harapan Federal Government.
“The openness shown is good because the people want to know the status of the relationship between the two parties.
“We declared our cooperation with DAP, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, Parti Amanah Negara and Parti Warisan Sabah to make things clear to the people.”
He said the declaration would ensure people had a clear picture of the relationship between Umno and Pas.
“No more riddles... There’s no need to be ashamed because the people need to know who they should choose.”
Yesterday, Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the party was prepared to cooperate with Pas in the Seri Setia byelection to show Umno’s appreciation to the Islamic party for their support in the Sungai Kandis by-election.
On the Pakatan Harapan logo for the by-election, Saifuddin said the party still had a few issues to settle before any announcement could be made.
“We already discussed this at the PH Presidential Council meeting recently and will sort out a few matters with the Election Commission before making any announcement.”
