MAHADZIR LAID TO REST
He had asked to be buried next to his mother
LOCAL television personality Datuk Mahadzir Lokman was laid to rest at 10.10am at the Bukit Kiara Muslim Cemetery yesterday.
More than 200 family members, friends, fans and media practitioners paid their last respects to the legendary host.
Mahadzir, affectionately known as Dale, died at a hotel in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, on Friday and was laid to rest next to his late mother.
“Abang Dale (Mahadzir) requested to be buried next to our late mother as he loved our mother. Everyone knows that.
“He was a very supportive and encouraging brother as well as a good listener.
“I am in the fashion line and he had always been supportive. Sometimes, I asked him to be the host of my event at the last minute and he never turned down my request.
“The event was lively with his presence and people liked him,” said Ida, youngest sister of Mahadzir, when met here yesterday.
Mahadzir’s brother, Danial, also expressed his gratitude to Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal for facilitating the process of flying Mahadzir’s body back to the peninsula.
Meanwhile, singer Datuk DJ Dave said the death of Mahadzir was a big loss to the entertainment industry.
“He can sing, act, host and be a master of ceremony. It is difficult to find someone who can replace him,” he said.
Rock legend Suhaimi Abdul Rahman, or Amy Search, said Mahadzir was a friend who had a good sense of humour.
“Maybe he was not in the best of health for the past few years, but he always had a good sense of humour.
“I last met him during Hari Raya. He looked fine so the news of him passing away came as a shock to me. We will miss him,” he said.
