‘Fixed increase rate to be finalised’

-

IPOH: The government will finalise the fixed minimum wage increase rate at the cabinet meeting on Friday, said Human Resources Minister M. Kulasegaran.

He said the increase rate determined would be standardised for workers in the peninsula and Sabah and Sarawak.

He said the minimum monthly wage for workers in Sabah and Sarawak was between RM800 and RM920, while in the peninsula it was RM1,000.

“The matter will be finalised at the cabinet meeting on Friday. Hopefully, there will be good news,” he said here yesterday.

He said the minimum wage increase would be implemented gradually over a period of five years.

Increasing minimum wage to RM1,500 in stages within five years is part of the Pakatan Harapan manifesto.
