MUM DOES HAJ WITH ALL EIGHT KIDS
Noor Hilali, husband prayed in 2000 they could return to perform haj again with children
single one of them with Tabung Haji after saving enough money for the RM1,300 deposit each.
“All their duit Raya and my bonus were later deposited into their accounts through the years.
“This year, all our efforts paid off. Unfortunately, my husband could not make it due to work commitments.
“I pray that we will all be able to come together, all in the family, again in future,” said Noor Hilali, who resides in Kampung Pandan, Kuala Lumpur, with her family.
Sadly, too, another daughter, Wan Adnin Illyyin, had died in 2013 at age 21 from tuberculosis.
Of the eight children, the eldest two — Wan Abdullah Shahid, 33, and Wan Abdullah Shakir, 30 — are already working and married.
Their spouses could not follow them as they have to care for their young children.
“They are helping with the expenses for all their siblings — the youngest two are in school, while the rest are in college and university,” said Noor Hilali.
She said it’s not too difficult being here on her own with the children as they were already grown up and could take care of themselves.
The youngest, Wan Abdullah Sharaf, 16, said he could not believe that he would be performing the haj. But after going for the courses and arriving here, it was beginning to sink in.
Even his friends at SMK Cochrane Perkasa in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur were surprised.
“But I am grateful for this opportunity. I am determined to face whatever challenges that may come.”
Wan Abdullah Shabil, 17, who is sitting the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia this year, said he would take the opportunity to pray for straight As in the examination.
The student of private school, Akademi Lembah Ilmu in Ampang, added that he would do the same for all his friends.
The other siblings are Wan Abdullah Shahir, 28, the only female Wan Iman Nawwarah, 23, Wan Abdullah Shamil, 21, and Wan Abdullah Shamim, 19.
