Everton misfit Mirallas to join Fiorentina on loan

-

LONDON: Kevin Mirallas is on the brink of joining Fiorentina on loan from Everton.

The Belgium winger, who spent the second half of last season at Olympiacos, is flying to Florence to undergo a medical with the Serie A side.

Reports in Italy suggest the Blues will receive a £500,000 (RM2.6 million) loan fee, while Fiorentina will have the option to buy Mirallas for £7 million next summer.

The 30-year-old was given a chance by new boss Marco Silva during pre-season but failed to impress and was told he could leave earlier this week.

Mirallas joined Everton from Olympiacos for £6 million in 2012 and signed a contract tying him to the club until 2020 in May last year.

However, with the arrival of Theo Walcott in January and the signing of Richarlison this summer, the ex-Lille star has fallen further down the pecking order.

Silva is also hopeful of giving Ademola Lookman a first-team chance next season, despite the youngster being the subject of an £18 million bid from RB Leipzig.

Mirallas becomes the 12th player to leave Everton either on loan or permanently this summer as director of football, Marcel Brands, looks to trim the wage bill.
