Statements recorded in Cradle Fund CEO’s death
KUALA LUMPUR: Police have recorded statements from several people following the death of Cradle Fund Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Nazrin Hassan, who was found dead in a room on the top floor of his two-storey terrace house in Mutiara Homes, Petaling Jaya, in a fire on June 14.
Selangor Police Criminal Investigation Department head Senior Assistant Commissioner Fadzil Ahmat yesterday said the statements were recorded after police received the forensic investigation report from the Fire and Rescue Department, and reclassified the case under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
It is understood that statements from the victim’s family members who were in the house during the fire were also recorded.
Fadzil refused to comment on whether the police had identified the suspect for the case, saying that an in-depth investigation was being carried out.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director Hafisham Mohd Noor said the department’s directorgeneral, Mohammad Hamdan Wahid, had on June 25 announced the discovery of new inputs and samples that were sent to its forensics laboratory for further investigation.
Hamdan said the department subsequently submitted the incident’s final forensic report to the police.
“Detailed investigation was conducted using scientific methods and the K9 dog unit. Results would be issued by the police.”
