PKR branch leaders yet to receive letter on two-year suspension

-

ALOR STAR: Baling PKR branch secretary Mohd Azmi Mohamed Amin claimed that he and five other branch committee members had not received an official letter on their two-year suspension.

He said as such, he could not confirm the suspensions.

He acknowledged that he had received a show-cause letter from the PKR headquarters through the WhatsApp messaging application and had explained that at a press conference he held in relation to a 14th General Election (GE14) candidate.

“Only I have received the show cause letter, while the other committee members have not.

“If it is true that we have been suspended, I will hold a press conference to clear the air on the matter,” he said yesterday.

He said they wanted a local to be nominated for the Kuala Ketil state seat, but the party headquarters chose an outsider.

“We held a press conference as we were dissatisfied with the choice.”

Baling PKR Youth chief Aziz Syukri said he had yet to receive a letter on the suspension.

Others who were allegedly suspended for two years were Baling Wanita chief Shabani Awang and four branch committee members — Ghazali Ibrahim, Baharudin Shaari, Roshanar Redzuan and Shamsuri Abd Rahman.

In GE14, PKR named lawyer Mohamad Sofee Razak to contest the Kuala Ketil state seat. He lost to Pas’ Major (Rtd) Mansor Zakaria.

In Ipoh, Perak PKR hoped that party branch chiefs and members in the state who were suspended by the PKR political bureau would continue to support and work for the party.

Perak PKR information chief Siti Aishah Shaikh Ismail welcomed their support and would not sideline them despite their suspension.

She said there was nothing much they could do to overturn the suspension, but those suspended were welcome to return to the party after the suspension.

PKR suspended five branch chiefs from Tapah, Lenggong, Gerik, Parit and Kuala Kangsar, while the Pasir Salak branch chief was suspended for four years.
