KAPAR member of parliament Datuk Abdullah Sani Abd Hamid has been challenged to show proof of the so-called conspiracy to prevent PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim from becoming prime minister.

PKR secretary-general Datuk Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the power transition plan that had been agreed on by the Pakatan Harapan Presidential Council was in place.

“However, since he (Sani) has made the allegation, he should come up with the evidence of the so-called conspiracy.”

He said his stand was the same as Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s statement on Monday that the person who made the claim should prove it.

Dr Mahathir was quoted as saying that he would not interfere in matters of other political parties.

Sani was reported as saying that Anwar would face problems taking over as prime minister from Dr Mahathir if PKR vicepresident Rafizi Ramli was unsuccessful in unseating Datuk Seri Azmin Ali as deputy president in the party polls.

He was also quoted as saying that several parties who had wronged Anwar previously were again conspiring to deny him the prime minister’s post and that Council of Eminent Persons chairman Tun Daim Zainuddin had a role in this.

Before the 14th General Election, Pakatan Harapan leaders had agreed that Dr Mahathir would be made prime minister if the coalition won the polls.

It was also agreed that Anwar, who recently won the PKR presidency unopposed, would take over the post from Dr Mahathir.
