Malaysia’s women fall to Indonesian­s

women’s handball team, as expected, suffered a 23-15 defeat to hosts Indonesia in their opening Group B Asian Games match in Jakarta yesterday.

Yusri Nurfarahiy­ah was Malaysia’s top scorer with four goals, while Nurul Irdina Yazid, Farah Atifah Ahmad Yusop, Nur Shaidatul Mohd Zubaidi and S. Dharshiniy netted two each.

Norsyamimi Wan Mohd Nazri, Nor Shuhada Zahari and Nur Alia Saimi were the other scorers.

Lia Apriliani was Indonesia’s toast with seven goals for the victory.

Malaysia will take on Japan on Sunday. The men’s team will complete their Group A campaign against Iran today.

The team were thrashed 64-11 by defending champions Qatar on Monday.
