A&W PLANS UP TO 12 NEW OUTLETS

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Fast-food chain A&W (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd plans to strengthen its position in Malaysia’s food and beverage (F&B) market by opening 10 to 12 outlets by next year.

Acting chief executive officer Mohd Hasmadi Zainal said it planned to open seven outlets, of which five would offer drivethrough services, in the second half of this year.

He said the new outlets would be located in major cities such as Kuala Lumpur, Johor Baru, Ipoh and Penang as A&W’s presence in those areas was still small.

“We want to focus on opening outlets in major cities to strengthen our brand name.

“We’ve also allocated around RM1.2 million for each new outlet to boost our brand recognition,” he said after a prize presentation ceremony for A&W’s La Mole Burger contest, here, yesterday.

Thirty lucky customers received rewards worth a total RM10,000 for the contest that was organised in March.

The company also yesterday introduced its limited-time Cool Classics combo sets, which start from RM15.

Mohd Hasmadi said A&W Malaysia saw better prospects in the second half, driven by its growth plans.

It had seen positive growth after renovating its outlets based on a new concept, he said.

A&W Malaysia has 41 outlets in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Melaka, Penang, Terengganu, Johor and Perak, with a total of 500 employees. Mohd Hasmadi said the company would launch new products or promotions every three months, including a contest for loyal customers.
