KUALA LUMPUR: Rapid Bus Sdn Bhd (Rapid Bus) has set up a team to handle the insurance claims filed by the victims involved in the rampaging bus incident here on Thursday night.

Rapid Bus chief executive officer Mohd Azam Omar said victims whose vehicles were damaged could submit their claims and relevant documents to suggest@rapidkl.com.my.

“Rapid Bus regrets the incident that happened (on Thursday) and we are fully cooperating with the police and relevant authorities to investigate the incident,” he said yesterday.

Azam urged the public not to speculate over the incident, and to wait for police investigations to conclude.

He said the bus involved in the incident was in good condition, refuting claims that the vehicle suffered from a brake malfunction.

“Based on the report lodged on Thursday night, the incident started when the bus was involved in a minor accident at Jalan Enggang AU2 in Taman Keramat. The bus captain (driver) reportedly continued plying his route while being chased by a group of people.

“During the chase, the bus reportedly hit vehicles along the road until the exit to Jalan Ampang at the MRR2 Expressway, where he was reportedly assaulted by several people.”

Azam said the driver received treatment in hospital.

RapidKL chief executive officer Shamsul Rizal Mohd Yusof called on the affected vehicle owners to contact the company’s helpline at 03-7885 2585 for further action.
