COUNSELLING CLUB FOR SERI SETIA FOLK
It is among plans to boost residents’ wellbeing, says Pakatan candidate
HALIMEY Abu Bakar has pledged to set up a “people’s counselling club” to address mental health issues encountered by residents here.
The Pakatan Harapan candidate for the Seri Setia by-election said the club was part of his plans to boost the quality of life for those in the bottom 40 (B40) group here, especially those living in people’s housing projects.
“The ‘Kelab Kaunseling Rakyat’ can be implemented to help those with psychological and emotional problems,” Halimey said at PH’s operations centre yesterday.
He said ensuring the wellbeing of urban folk would also extend to youth from B40 households.
They could be kept abreast of opportunities for furthering their education, he added.
Halimey said several programmes mooted by the Selangor government would be activated as part of initiatives to improve residents’ quality of life.
They included the People’s Tuition Programme, the Selangor Human Capital Development Module and the Selangor Local Youth Stimulus.
“We will not deprive the young from education opportunities.
“Regardless of their race, they will not be left out.”
He pledged to reactivate “Kelab Rukun Tetangga” to help improve safety at people’s housing projects to deal with the locals’ concerns about crime.
Halimey said he would propose to the local government to install closed-circuit television cameras (CCTVs) in certain areas.
“We need proactive measures to improve residents’ safety.
“For example, CCTVs can help identify vandals who are responsible for damaging lifts and water pumps in flats.”
