‘No taxpayers’ money used in Balakong campaign’

-

BANGI: Pakatan Harapan has not used any public funds in its campaign for the Balakong by-election, said the coalition’s candidate Wong Siew Ki yesterday.

“Our campaign financing is no different (from when PH was the opposition). We do not use government funds.

“We organise party fundraisers and we do not use the people’s money. Not a sen.”

Wong, who was taking part in a Jalur Gemilang distribution event in Balakong yesterday, said it was carried out in the spirit of Merdeka.

“In this Merdeka month, we have a new government, which inspires hope for renewal.

“The Jalur Gemilang (has new meaning for) the people.”

Earlier, she paid a visit to Sungai Balak at Kampung Baru Balakong here, where a flood-mitigation project was being carried out.

Recently, the electoral watchdog, Bersih 2.0, unveiled a report that criticised practices by PH and Barisan Nasional over purported violations of election campaign regulations during the Sungai Kandis by-election earlier this month.
