Recurve team oozing with confidence

national recurve team hope the recent three-week training stint in South Korea will inspire them to attain glory at the Asian Games.

In the 2014 Incheon edition, Malaysia’s Khairul Anuar Mohamad, Haziq Kamaruddin and Atiq Bazil Bakri reach the final of the team event before losing to China. It was Malaysia’s first archery medal in the history of the Games.

Khairul and Haziq along with Akmal Nor Hasrin and Zarif Syahir Zolkepeli will compete in the recurve individual and team events, which starts today.

“Although, it was only a training stint in Korea, it was a fruitful affair as we learnt new techniques. We also had friendly matches against their university teams,” Khairul said.

“Archery is very competitiv­e in Korea and even their university teams are very good.

“We are not underdogs this time and we are among seven countries fighting for honours.”
