Shahril Ridza exits Media Prima board, clocks in at Khazanah

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Shahril Ridza Ridzuan has exited the board of three listed firm, including Media Prima Bhd.

Shahril Ridza had resigned from Media Prima, Malaysia Building Society Bhd and Malaysian Resources Corp Bhd as their non-independent, nonexecutive director, according to the companies’ respective filings with Bursa Malaysia.

Shahril’s resignations were due to him no longer being a nominee director of their substantial shareholder, the Employees Provident Fund (EPF).

He clocked in as Khazanah Nasional Bhd managing director yesterday.

Media Prima, in its announcement, said Shahril Ridza was appointed to its board on October 22 2001. He was also a member of its nomination and remuneration committee.

“The Media Prima board of directors wishes to express its deepest appreciation and gratitude to Shahril Ridza for his dedication and contributions to the group,” said Media Prima group chairman Datuk Mohd Nasir Ahmad.

“He has served for more than 15 years at Media Prima. He demonstrated immense dedication and provided invaluable guidance to the management team. We wish him well in his future endeavours.”

Shahril Ridza, formerly chief executive officer of the EPF, filled the vacancy in Khazanah after the departure of Tan Sri Azman Mokhtar.

Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is the new chairman of the sovereign wealth fund, replacing Datuk Seri Najib Razak who resigned on May 31.

Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, Tan Sri Mohd Hassan Marican, Dr Sukhdave Singh and Goh Ching Yin have also been named Khazanah directors.
