Indian stocks extend gains from 4th week

MUMBAI: Indian stocks extended gains from its fourth weekly advance, propelling the benchmark index to a record high, as investors refocused on earnings optimism as global markets steadied. The S&P BSE Sensex added 0.6 per cent to 38,158.65 as of 9.36am, here. All but three of 19 sectoral sub-indexes compiled by BSE Ltd rose, led by the gauges of capital goods and industrial companies. Larsen & Toubro Ltd’s 4.1 per cent rise made it the top performer on the index after the firm unveiled a plan to buy back its shares.
