‘Alasanmu’ lyrics hit home, says Najib

KUALA LUMPUR: Music is sometimes used by people to express feelings and former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak is no exception.

He described his emotional state that was affected by the hardship he was going through as being aptly explained in the lyrics of the song titled Alasanmu (Your Excuse) that was made popular in the 1990s by local band Exist.

Najib shared a video clip of the song on his Facebook page and posted: “A friend sent the video link through Whatsapp to me.

“I don’t know who edited the video, but the lyrics of this old hit struck home. Thanks to the person who edited the video.”

Najib’s FB status that was accompanie­d by the video had garnered more than 1,800 comments and 2,300 shares.

Netizens offered encouragin­g words to Najib, hoping that he would remain strong.

Kasmaini Usman wrote: “DSN (initials for Datuk Seri Najib), it is not easy to please everyone.

“Even with million good deeds, the one mistake will erase all the good things we’ve done. It is best to leave the rest to Allah.”

Asmidha Tajudin Dressmaker wrote: “Hopefully, there is a blessing (that comes with the hardship). Maybe Allah wants to show (a lesson) to those who have never been satisfied with the worldly pleasures bestowed upon them.”
