PH candidate unfazed by ‘fragile’ Pas-MCA cooperation

-

BANGI: Pakatan Harapan candidate Wong Siew Ki is unfazed by Pas’ cooperation with MCA for the Balakong by-election.

She said she believed the people had the wisdom to see the fragility of the political collaboration between MCA and Pas, and would back PH.

She said elections were not won by political leaders directing their followers to vote for a candidate.

“I’m not worried by the cooperation as it is not the first time,” she said, in an apparent allusion to the 14th General Election.

“The people are wise enough to determine who to support.

“This is not a matter of a leader saying go vote for someone, and we go and vote (for that person). Everyone has the wisdom to see who is capable of bringing a brighter future to them and Balakong.”

Wong, who is from DAP, was speaking after the launch of the coalition’s manifesto for the by-election here yesterday.

On Sunday, Pas president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang reportedly said the Islamic party would cooperate with MCA in the Balakong by-election.

Wong, when asked if she was concerned about MCA’s decision to use its logo for the by-election, said she was not.

She said this was because it would be a challenge for MCA to let voters know about the party logo as it had used the BN logo all this while.

“They (MCA) need to tell people to vote for them just like we (PH) have to let people know about the PH logo.

“However, we will not face any problems as residents here are familiar with and welcome our logo.”
