Head-turners at KL Fashion Week

-

SOCIAL media gave “front row seats” to the most coveted event in the country’s social calendar — the Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week (KLFW) . Celebrities, fashionistas and social media influencers came dressed to the nines, turning heads everywhere they went. Granted, the spotlight was on the clothes but let’s not forget that hair and make-up deserve recognition too.

But this wasn’t the MetGalaorNewYork Fashion Week, so anticipating something completely outrageous would be unrealistic. Nevertheless, there were a handful of celebrities who pulled off looks which I liked. The crowd was a healthy mix of those who played it safe and those who stepped up their game by going a little more edgy.

SCHA AL-YAHYA

Besides being one of the female celebrities whose wardrobe is the envy of most wom- en, Scha Al-Yahya is blessed with aface that can pull off a variety of looks. Never afraid to paint the town red, Scha attended KLFW shows sporting different looks each time, and didn’t disappoint.

Rocking her new short hairstyle, Scha sported a half top knot when walking down the runway for the Melium Group. In another show, she appeared with sleek wet hair, paired with white eyeliner, long lashes and the “bare” look — nude lipstick and a nonexistent blush.

NOOR NEELOFA

Off the runway andontherunway, Neelofa creates headlines with her sense of style. The actressentrepreneur sure knows how to achieve that extra edge when it comes to her appearance. She may have been criticised for strutting down the runway with an outfit deemed inappropriate (she wore a thick, long coat draped over her shoulder, a dress with ahigh slit, knee-length boots and a turban) but her contoured make-up wasonpoint! She opted for minimal, earthy make-up to complement her outfit and the look was paired with black nail polish.

The 29-year-old had guests talking again with another look that featured top-to-toe Gucci but I liked the fact that she paired it with a bold lip colour. AMEERA KHAN

A social media star with almost

950,000 followers on Instagram, the little sister of Neelofa sported a sleek ponytail and dramatic winged eyeliner. The whole ensemble made her look older than her age (she’s 18), but her confidence shone. What do you think — yay or nay?

DIANA DANIELLE

This hot mama looked like she had fun mixing things up with her short hairdo and make-up throughout KLFW. Some days she opted for a soft feminine look with her short locks pulled back and paired with a modest dress, and at other times, she played with bold lip colours and added volume to her hair with natural waves. I loved all the looks she pulled.

DAIYAN TRISHA

This young and fresh faced singer-actress gave some Ariana Grande vibes with a sleek top knot paired with dramatic and bold dark-coloured lips and dramatic eye make-up. It isn’t something we’re used to from this artiste as she often portrays the girl-next-door vibe, but it’s nice to see her step up her game.

JIHAN MUSE

The host channelled her inner fashionista when she attended the event, and I liked that she tried different make-up looks. She is usually seen with soft coloured lipstick, but this time she looked every bit the rock star with bold red lipstick, waves in her hair and a leather jacket.
