JAMALUDDIN JARJIS’ MUM SEEKS SHARE OF SON’S RM2b ESTATE
Mother of late MP Jamaluddin Jarjis files ‘faraid’ application
THE mother of the late Tan Sri Dr Jamaluddin Jarjis filed an application to obtain the faraid certificate on her son’s estate, estimated to be worth RM2 billion, at the Syariah High Court here yesterday.
Jamaluddin, who was former Rompin member of parliament, died three years ago in a helicopter crash in Kampung Sungai Pening, Semenyih, Selangor.
Aminah Abdullah, 84, represented by Kamar Ainiah Kamaruzaman, made the application on March 2 and the case came up for management yesterday.
After the proceedings, Kamar Ainiah said the application was made to determine the division of Jamaluddin’s estate among his beneficiaries.
She said the application made by Aminah was made known to Jamaluddin's widow, Puan Sri Dr Kalsom Ismail, and his four children, aged between 23 and 33.
His estate included more than 20 properties in Malaysia, the United States and Saudi Arabia, as well as a company.
“His widow applied to intervene (in this application) and on behalf of the mother of the applicant. She (Aminah) has no objections if other heirs wish to intervene.
“Following that, Syariah High Court registrar Siti Zulaiha Mohamad Mansor set Sept 13 for case management,” Kamar Ainiah said.
Aminah was accompanied by Jamaluddin’s brother, Mohamad Najeb Ali.
She divorced from Jamaluddin’s father in 1954.
