Festival a favourite despite nearby events

PUTRAJAYA: The GegaRia #KitaPunya festival remained a crowd-puller despite having to compete with other events in the vicinity, such as the National Day parade and Royal Floria Putrajaya.

Nur Akmatul Asyikin Mustafa Kamal, 28, from Ipoh, said she was excited to learn that Gegaria was being held here.

“We came to my aunt’s house for a vacation and decided to come and watch the National Day parade.

“I got excited when I found out that the Gegaria carnival was also here. I couldn’t wait to check out the event. I’ve watched Gegaria commercials on television so many times. I’m so happy to take part in the activities,” said the housewife.

She said she was looking forward to winning prizes at the lucky draw by Huawei.

Mohamad Ashiq Solehin Zainal, 24, said he was no stranger to Gegaria events, but it was the first time he attended the event outside the Palace of Justice.

The Nilai resident said this was his second time at the event.

“I like to come because there are many activities that suit young people like me. The food stalls and trucks are also interesting.

“For people who love music, this is the chance to get up close and personal with artistes and watch the concerts. You can’t get this anywhere else.”

Grace Yong, a first-timer to Gegaria, said she and her two cousins had a great time.

“We played games at the esports zone and ate a lot of food,” said the Kuala Kubu Baru teen, who just sat her Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia.

The festival, which began yesterday, will end tomorrow. The carnival features activities, stalls and performances by artistes.
