PH fears dip in Balakong voter turnout on Sept 8

-

SERI KEMBANGAN: Pakatan Harapan candidate for the Balakong by-election Wong Siew Ki is worried that the voter turnout at the polls on Sept 8 may see a drop.

She said this followed the nonchalant attitude taken by voters, who feel that PH would win the polls despite them not voting.

“This attitude should change, even if they feel that PH would win the by-election.

“Each of their vote is meaningful in my fight for their rights,” she said after her campaign rounds with constituents at Lake Valley in Bandar Tun Hussein Onn, Cheras, yesterday.

Wong called on property developers in the Balakong constituency to offer more recreational facilities for residents.

“Recreational areas are essential to create a harmonious and comfortable atmosphere.

“I find that there is a lack of recreational areas.

“As such, developers must ensure that their housing projects have fields or parks for residents to carry out activities with their family and friends.”

In the Balakong by-election, which is being held following the death of assemblyman Eddie Ng Tien Chee in a road accident on July 20, Wong faces MCA candidate Tan Chee Teong in a straight fight.

In the 14th General Election, Ng defeated Barisan Nasional’s Lim Chin Wah and Pas’ Mohamad Ibrahim Ghazali with a 35,538vote majority.
