Early voters to cast ballots tomorrow

-

PETALING JAYA: A total of 2,801 early voters for the Balakong and Seri Setia state by-elections will cast their ballots tomorrow.

Election Commission (EC) member Datuk Md Yusop Mansor yesterday said there were 31 early voters for the Balakong by-election.

They comprised police personnel and will vote at the Seri Kembangan police station staff quarters from 8am to noon.

For the Seri Setia by-election, Yusop said, 2,770 early voters were involved, comprising 2,597 military personnel and their spouses, as well as 173 policemen.

He said military personnel and their spouses will vote at the Ababil Multipurpose Hall at Subang Air Base, while policemen will cast their ballots at the Royal Malaysia Police SMS Complex in Shah Alam. The early voting centres, he added, would be open from 8am to 5pm.

Yusop said the early voting will be witnessed by candidates’ polling agents.

He said observers from non-governmental organisations selected by EC would also witness the early-voting process.

“Early ballot papers will not be counted on Sept 4, but will be kept in police lockups.

“The counting of these ballots will be carried out on polling day on Sept 8 at polling stations set by EC.

“The process will be witnessed by candidates’ agents.”
