Mobile clinic offers free treatment to rural folk
YAYASAN Avisena has introduced Klinik Bergerak Sutera (KBS), which offers free basic medical treatment to the rural community. Its chairman, Datuk Ibrahim Md Yusof, said the service was a part of the foundation’s corporate social responsibility initiative.
Ibrahim said KBS’ basic medical treatment was available in nine locations, adding that it made weekly visits to selected villages on a rotation basis.
“Among the treatments available are for fever, cough, flu and basic emergency cases. KBS offers consultation services by specialist doctors to rural folk,” he said at the mobile clinic at Kampung Jaya Setia in Bestari Jaya, here, yesterday.
Health Minister Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad, who is Kuala Selangor member of parliament, officiated the event.
KBS was set up in March 2016 by the board of directors of Avisena Specialist Hospital.
KBS will visit Kampung Sungai Gulang-Gulang in Tanjong Karang, Kampung Rinching Hulu in Beranang, Kampung Kuala Pangsun in Hulu Langat and Kampung Bukit Kuching in Jeram, among others, from 10am to 3pm on Sundays.
Dr Dzulkefly hoped that more private hospitals would emulate Avisena Specialist Hospital in providing similar programmes to assist the needy.
“The effort to introduce KBS should be followed by other private hospitals if they have strong financial resources and want to benefit the people.
“The government encourages the involvement of the private sector, especially to work closely with the ministry to conduct programmes and provide services to the community.”
