Damsuri, from Kampung Sungai Rokam here, said he started cycling when he was a teenager.

“People ask me what is my secret to longevity. I tell them that I cycle an average of 10km daily.

Damsuri said he was proud to join the activity and these campaigns should be held annually.

“There are many fatalities due to heart attack and it can happen to anyone, even at a young age. Spend time cycling. It improves your cardiovascular system.”

The event at Aeon Klebang mall saw 108 participants aged 55 and above cycling non-stop for an hour.

The event was organised by Pantai Hospital Ipoh and opened by state Health, Consumer Affairs, National Integration and Human Resources Committee chairman A. Sivanesan.
