Man held for insulting Islam
KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor police arrested a man for allegedly making remarks that were racist and could tarnish the image of Islam.
Selangor Criminal Investigation Department chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Fadzil Ahmat said the 24-year-old suspect from Kedah was nabbed in Johor Baru at 3.40am yesterday.
The arrest was made after police received a report on Thursday on a viral video in which a man was seen uttering provocative remarks.
“Further investigations found that the suspect has no criminal records.
“The case is being investigated under Section 298A of the Penal Code,” he told the New Straits Times Press yesterday.
Recently, a two-minute video showing a man in a white singlet and black hat hurling provocative remarks went viral.
