PKR duo re­manded 6 days over money politics

ALOR STAR: The Malaysian An­ti­Cor­rup­tion Com­mis­sion (MACC) yes­ter­day ob­tained a six-day re­mand or­der at the mag­is­trate’s court here on two men sus­pected of in­volve­ment in money politics in the con­test for the lead­er­ship of the Kedah PKR branch.

The re­mand for the sus­pects, aged 46 and 48, said to be part of the party’s se­lec­tion com­mit­tee sec­re­tariat, was granted by mag­is­trate Mohd Hadi Hakimi Harun.

It was re­ported that the 48year-old man was nabbed at a restau­rant here at 12.20pm on Satur­day while the sec­ond sus­pect was picked up three hours later at the Pen­dang toll plaza.

They were be­lieved to have so­licited RM20,000 from a man who wanted his name to be re­tained in a data­base as a reg­is­tered can­di­date to en­able him to con­test in the lead­er­ship se­lec­tion.

The case comes un­der Sec­tion 16(a)(A) of the MACC Act 2009.
