PKR duo remanded 6 days over money politics

-

ALOR STAR: The Malaysian AntiCorruption Commission (MACC) yesterday obtained a six-day remand order at the magistrate’s court here on two men suspected of involvement in money politics in the contest for the leadership of the Kedah PKR branch.

The remand for the suspects, aged 46 and 48, said to be part of the party’s selection committee secretariat, was granted by magistrate Mohd Hadi Hakimi Harun.

It was reported that the 48year-old man was nabbed at a restaurant here at 12.20pm on Saturday while the second suspect was picked up three hours later at the Pendang toll plaza.

They were believed to have solicited RM20,000 from a man who wanted his name to be retained in a database as a registered candidate to enable him to contest in the leadership selection.

The case comes under Section 16(a)(A) of the MACC Act 2009.
