PAHANG TEAM BAGS ‘F1’ HONOUR
Schoolgirls win Women in Motorsport award at F1 in Schools World Finals
THE Dex-Rac Racing team from Pahang has brought honour to the country after winning the FIA Women in Motorsport award at the F1 in Schools World Finals 2018 in Singapore.
The Education Ministry yesterday said the winning team from SMK Sultanah Hajjah Kalsom in Kuantan, Pahang, was represented by Ainul Jannah Hasil, 17, Nur Sabrina Riduan, 17, Nur Alia Natasha Amizi, 17, and Sofiyya Nabilah Azuddin Shah, 16.
The ministry said the team proved that Malaysian students had the capability to compete with 50 international teams and showed that girls could be adept at science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
“There are 22 awards in the championship. The Dex-Rac Racing team bagged one of the most prestigious awards by being named the best women team in the world of automotive engineering.
“On top of that, Dex-Rac Racing placed ninth out of 50 countries. It is an Asian team on a par with European teams. It is also among the top three nomination for the Innovative Thinking Award and Resilience Award.”
