Cancer survivors give back

-

ALOR STAR: The Cancer Survivors Malaysia (CSM), a non-governmental organisation, is giving back to the community by building and carrying out repair works on homes of the poor and those affected by disasters.

Called Projek Hidup Berjasa, this initiative was mooted by CSM founder Zuraini Kamal.

It aims to help people who are facing difficulty in getting housing assistance due to red tape, or those who have been overlooked by the authorities.

Zuraini said through the project, two houses were built and another had been repaired at a cost of RM70,000.

“The first and second cases involved building new houses for families in Anak Bukit and Telok Chengal because their old homes were dilapidated, while the third involved a house that was destroyed in a fire in Kubang Pasu,” she said yesterday.

Zuraini also called on the government to simplify the process of channelling the aid because some of the needy needed assistance urgently.
