Umno leaders urged to accept verdict of voters

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Bayan Baru member of parliament Sim Tze Tzin yesterday called on Umno leaders to come to their senses and become a viable opposition.

He said Umno leaders should accept the verdict of voters.

“They should repent for their mistakes and start becoming a viable opposition.”

Sim, who is PKR strategic director, was commenting on the statement by Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin on the party’s vision of forming a new coalition to regain power.

He said it was “nauseating” to hear such statements by Umno leaders.

“Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak refused to accept defeat and tried to form an ad hoc coalition after the 14th General Election.

“Later, we saw Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi bowing to Pas president (Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang).

“And today (yesterday), it’s Khaled’s turn. It shows Umno is desperate.

“Umno warlords, who had enjoyed perks and privileges, cannot survive the harsh reality of being in the opposition.

“It is also a psychological game to divide Pakatan Harapan and create mistrust among its leaders and members.”

Khaled, in a statement on Facebook yesterday, had envisioned Umno, Pas, MIC, MCA, Gabungan Parti Sarawak and Gabungan Bersatu Sabah to form a new coalition with PKR, called Pakatan Malaysia.

Sim said the new coalition would fail.

“The mandate given by the people was clear.

“They voted for a change. They wanted PH to lead the country.

“They rejected Umno and Barisan Nasional.”
