Salsa in the city

Strategically located near shopping centres and restaurants, Ramada Suites KLCC is also well-equipped with amenities, writes Hanna Hussein

LOCATED strategically in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, Ramada Suites KLCC is a good choice for those who are looking to spend their weekend in the city. Although the hotel is not located in KLCC, it takes less than 15 minutes on foot to KLCC or Bukit Bintang. Jalan Alor is also not too far and there’s a stretch of bars and restaurants along Changkat Bukit Bintang so it’s perfect really.

HOMELY OPTION

I opt for the Studio Executive King, a spacious room complete with a balcony with a view of the KL Tower at a corner.

It is sleek yet homely with earthy tones. It comes with a kitchenette with a electric stove (only for long stay guests), refrigerator, toaster and microwave, a dining area, a comfy king-sized bed and a work table.

All rooms come equipped with tea/coffee facilities, safety deposit box, 50-inch flat screen TV with satellite channels, air conditioning, hairdryer and ironing facilities.

Other hotel facilities include complimentary high-speed wireless Internet broadband, 24-hour security, self-service laundrette and a family room.

SALSA AT HUGO’S

If you love to salsa, every Friday night there is a free beginner’s dance class at Hugo’s where guests can join in the fun.

There’s also an advance class for a fee. In the evening classes, the restaurant turns into a dance floor, and rumba salsa rhythms are played all night long by a DJ.

Surprisingly, many people turn up for these evening classes and I get to enjoy the exciting vibes while I have my dinner.

Hugo’s Restaurant serves quite a selection of dishes. While the chef is quite popular for his local dishes such as nasi lemak and fried rice, I recommend the delicious Bulgogi burger which is a steak sliced and marinated with Bulgogi flavour, sauteed to perfection, and served with sweet relish, onion rings, French fries and spicy mayo.

Hugo’s Crispy Chicken Burger is also a must-try. You’ll love its spicy sweet Ghochujiang sauce.
