Brooker pleased with Dhabitah’s progress
diving coach Christian Brooker is pleased with the maturity shown by youngster Nur Dhabitah Sabri in recent competitions.
Brooker said the 19-year-old has been able to handle situations well in both training and competitions, which will help her take her game to the next level.
“I can’t comment on anything prior to this year as I had only joined in January. But I have noticed that she (Dhabitah) has started to become more aware of her emotions in the last few competitions,” said Brooker yesterday.
“Once you become more selfaware, you can start to recognise problems and then address those problems and seek feedback and advice.
“She is starting to mature and becoming a bit more of an adult and learning to deal with her emotions better.
“I have to say the same for Chew Yiwei.
“He has also become quite the adult too. He is more independent now and trains and competes more intelligently.”
The Australian rates Dhabitah as an “incredible talent” who will be able to excel in whatever event she chooses to.
Dhabitah was more focused on springboard events earlier in her career but is equally adept at the platform events, as proven by her recent achievements.
“She is extremely talented and will do great on the platform if she wants to focus on that.
“From what we have seen, she is also great on the springboard.”
Despite her young age, Dhabitah’s resume already features a long list of achievements which include winning three bronze over the last two Commonwealth Games, three gold at the Kuala Lumpur Sea Games last year and one silver and two bronze at the recent Indonesia Asian Games.
