I’ll make PD more popular, says council chief

SEREMBAN: New Port Dickson Municipal Council president Mohd Zamri Mohd Esa, 43, has big plans for the seaside resort town.

“I want to make Port Dickson more popular as a tourism centre of international standards,” he said.

Zamri said he would use his experience as Labuan Corporation assistant chief executive officer to realise his plans.

“When I was in Labuan, I was involved in the tourism sector and my experience will allow me to develop Port Dickson.

“The focus is on increasing public infrastructure and amenities, apart from other aspects that can add value to attractions in Port Dickson, such as water sports and food stalls.

“Even though there are many facilities in Port Dickson, they can be improved so that we can put this district on a par with resort areas in the region,” he said after being sworn in as president at Wisma Negeri.

He took his oath of office before Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun.

Present were State Secretary Dr Razali Ab Malik and state Housing, Local Government and New Village Committee chairman Teo Kok Seong.

Zamri was born here, but was raised in Melaka. He began his duties as president on Monday, replacing Khairi Maamor, who left the council on Sept 1.

Zamri said: “I am grateful to the menteri besar for having confidence in me to appoint me to this position.”

He is a Universiti Malaysia Sabah MBA holder.
