DUE to its many beauty benefits, silk has long been one of the premium ingredients in skincare. Various studies have found that silk rejuvenates tired skin with essential vitamins and antioxidants, promotes and protects healthy growth of fresh cells against oxidative stress, and smooths wrinkles and fine lines.
Silk also aids in wound healing for skin cells and non-cellular skin components. Silk is a potent antioxidant, UVB ultraviolet B photo protective, and helps promote a brighter and less inflamed complexion.
As such, skincare brand Dr Morita has introduced its latest three-dimensional facial masks made from the strongest natural silk fibre. The facial masks comprise six products under the silk fibre and silky range.
The three silk fibre products are moisturising, anti-wrinkle and whitening facial masks. All contain the brand’s signature silky moribiotex for intensive nourishing and moisturising.
In addition, the moisturising facial mask includes micro molecules of hyaluronic essence for an intensive and moisturising effect for dehydrated skin.
COMBINED BENEFITS
The mask combines hyaluronic formulation with 25 nourishing ingredients from Japan including the extracts of gold, swiftlet nest and sake to revitalise tired and ageing skin. Extracts of black pearl, in combination with the 25 nourishing ingredients, are included in the whitening facial mask for a soothing and radiant skin.
Under the silky range, the facial masks comprise smooth skin essence, bright skin essence and glowing skin essence. The products combine the use of microdelivery fibre, which is the strongest natural silk fibre. Silk fibre consists of two proteins, sericin and fibroin that are antibacterial and UV resistant.
Together with micro molecules of hyaluronic acid and 11 types of amino acids essences, the facial masks work to rejuvenate, rehydrate and build the skin’s resilience.
Other ingredients include rejuvenating extracts such as black soyabean, eggplant and sake. Both the bright skin and glowing skin facial masks include tranexamic acid which works to effectively slow down skin pigmentation. It also protects the skin from UV rays.
BETTER ABSORPTION
Dr Morita’s facial masks, developed by Dr Jou Biotech Co Ltd, are the result of high technology research and premium natural ingredients from Taiwan and Japan.
Chief executive officer Jou Jun Xu says both the silky moribiotex and the microdelivery fibre fit perfectly onto skin and have better absorption of essence than your normal sheet mask.
“The silky moribiotex is lightweight and delicate, like baby’s skin. When you put on the mask, it is as if you have a second layer of skin. The special silk mask material aids better essence absorption that helps tighten and effectively moisturise the skin.
“Also the facial masks are threedimensionally cut and are stretchable, which allows for better penetration of essence on to the skin, to create more effective results. The finer the fibre, the more it promotes the absorption of the various ingredients in the masks. The masks are suitable for all skin types, especially for dry and ageing skin.”
He says silk has been a highly treasured commodity for the longest time, especially for skincare. It is the preferred choice as it can accelerate skin repair, promotes the secretion of collagen, enhances whitening and protects skin from UV and inflammation.
With his extensive experience in the teaching of facial hyaluronic acid injection, Jou leads the research and development team to create and test the facial masks. He is also responsible for the serum formulas used in the masks.
The facial masks are available at selected Guardian outlets, at prices between RM33.87 and RM43.30.
